Crescent Down Works
Arctic Mountain Parka with Charcoal Herringbone Wool
$ 599.00 $ 875.00
In Seattle, we like to think we know about adverse weather conditions, but the truth is that we have it pretty easy most of the time. When winter wakes up we get pretty worked up about days when the mercury hits the 20's. But deep down we know it could be much worse (see midwest, northeast winters). This is the coat for the people who know real winter. You could also classify this as a bit of a pet project. We set out to draw from the skill set that Crescent Down Works has refined over 40 years to build something like we have never seen from them before. Starting with their Arctic Mantagne as the base pattern, we split the jacket at the yoke to bring the functional aspects of 60/40 fabric together with the aesthetic and warmth of a wool coat. Next we tucked a hidden ribbed cuff into the sleeve to help seal up the sleeve from harsh winds. Chest and hip pockets are closed with velcro secured flaps and the main zipper closure is further buttressed with a snap secured storm flap. Lastly, the outer and inner shells are only connected at key points with internal baffles keeping the down in place throughout the piece. This is a technique employed to keep as few stitches as possible from penetrating from the outside through the down layer to keep heat concentrated on the inside and the cold held a bay on the outside. As with everything CDW manufactures, they use the highest grade down fill ( no quills ) and fabrics. All made right here in Seattle. These custom, limited run coats are high performing and immediately striking. They will be hard to beat if you are looking for a coat you plan to own for many years.
