Spring Style: Sport Pullover Shirts from Battenwear

Posted: Mar 29 2016

Arriving at the three-way intersection of 1960's sportswear, sturdy workwear, and classic vacation wear, the pullover is an underappreciated, timeless style of shirt that has undergone a much-needed renaissance in the last few years. Essentially a regular button-front shirt with its placket only going halfway down the shirt, the pullover (or popover – up to you) combines the sportiness of a polo shirt and the sharp fit and fine materials of a proper button-front shirt. And for spring and summer of 2016, Battenwear has made one of our absolute favorites in two beautiful fabrics.

Their Sport Pullover Shirt is available in an eye-catching Peach Petal printed cotton lawn (a silky, very lightweight cotton fabric that's perfect for the warmer months), as well as a classic, sharp White oxford fabric. With a slightly boxier fit than their normal button-front shirts, the Battenwear Sport Pullover Shirts feature a button-down collar, a sporty straight hem with 2.5" side gussets, and a single chest pocket with button flap. The vibe is pure 1960's sportswear, but on vacation someplace very warm and very far away – think beaches, beers, and your feet in the bluest water you've ever seen. The Sport Pullover Shirt is your perfect spring and summer companion.

Battenwear, founded in 2011 by designer Shinya Hasegawa, is made in the Garment District of New York City, and, in their words, is designed for the "contemporary adventurer." We couldn't agree more – their clothes and accessories will make you feel like you're on a permanent vacation. That's why the Sport Pullover Shirt is ideal for all your adventures in these coming warmer months.
