New at Freeman: Red Wing Classic Round Toe

Posted: Jan 26 2016

Possibly the quintessential American work boot, Red Wing has made its world-renowned footwear since 1905. Beloved all over for their rugged good looks, durability and high-quality domestic craftsmanship at a fair price, we've been beyond thrilled to carry the brand's Heritage line, which pulls designs from the company's 110-year history and manufactures them in the same small eastern Minnesota town that they always have.

Recently, we decided to slightly expand our Red Wing Heritage offerings with a couple of new styles. Here's a look at one of them, the 6" Classic Round Toe boot

First introduced in 1919 as a work boot for farmers, the 6" Classic Round Toe boot features the comfort of an oxford-style shoe with the strength of a work boot. Additionally, with its clean, simple, stitch-saving front end, it offers a more pared-down look than some of Red Wing Heritage's chunkier styles. We took our time selecting which type of leather we wanted to carry the Classic Round Toe in before landing on Briar Oil Slick leather. As the name would imply, it's an oil-tanned cow skin leather that, with proper care, will age beautifully.

Like most Red Wing Heritage boots, its sole is sewn to its body with a Goodyear welt (that strip of leather running along the perimeter of the sole where the body of the shoe meets the sole) for maximum durability. Additionally, like the Work Chukka and 6" Moc Toe that we also carry, the Classic Round Toe features a super-comfy Traction Tred sole that's great for those who spend a lot of time on their feet (and it's easily replaceable, so as long as you take care of the leather, you can enjoy your Red Wings for many, many years to come).

We're proud to be able to bring you the finest American-made Red Wing Heritage boots, and we're really excited to expand our selection to help you get into the perfect pair. Come on in and try a pair on soon, and don't hesitate to give us a call at (206) 327-9932 or shoot us an e-mail at info@freemanseattle.com if you have any questions about these beautiful boots.
