From the plains of eastern Minnesota to the shelves of Freeman here in Seattle, we couldn't be more excited to be working with Red Wing Heritage. Since 1905, Red Wing has made the toughest, most indestructible (yet still comfortable!) work boots and shoes, and Red Wing Heritage takes its cues from the company's century-old archive to present the brand's most enduring, classic styles, all made in their Red Wing, Minnesota factory. We've been wearing Red Wings since long before our store was even a gleam in our eye, so to finally be carrying Red Wing Heritage at Freeman and sharing their iconic boots with you feels like a dream come true.
To start off our partnership with this iconic American brand, we picked our three favorite Red Wing Heritage styles in colors we thought would age the best – after all, we're all about "buy it once and have it forever," and if ever there were a brand that personified those ethos to a "T," it'd be Red Wing Heritage.
The Red Wing Heritage Work Chukka in Copper Rough & Tough is a shoe that both Scott and I (Alex) have worn for years, and we both love them for their combination of durability, comfort and a refined silhouette. Originally crafted by Red Wing for indoor workers who stood on their feet for long hours, the Atlas Tread polyurethane outsole provides optimum stability and comfort. We got them in the Copper Rough & Tough colorway because it'll truly age incredibly – the more you wear these shoes and beat them up, the more beautiful and unique they'll become. It's a lightweight boot that looks equally at home in the workshop, on the trail or on the town.
Honestly, we couldn't have stocked Red Wing Heritage without offering the 6" Moc Toe boot. It's an unimpeachable classic, Red Wing's most iconic and best-known design, and another Red Wing style that we've been using and abusing for years. Like the Work Chukka, they feature the Atlas Tread polyurethane outsole, which makes for a surprisingly comfortable boot that'll keep you feeling good on your feet throughout the day. We selected the Oro Legacy leather due its beautiful amber shade that wears and ages stunningly – I've got a four-year-old pair of these in my closet that I absolutely love and plan to wear for the rest of my life. A heftier shoe than the Work Chukka, they're still quite versatile and will no doubt become your new go-to companions when colder weather hits.
Lastly, we've brought in another of Red Wing Heritage's most iconic, best-loved designs, the Iron Ranger. Named after the iron miners of northern Minnesota, the Iron Rangers are a slightly dressier, yet still rugged, boot featuring a more refined, less chunky outsole made from nitrile cork, a very sharp cap-toe design and a slimmer silhouette than either the Work Chukka or the 6" Moc Toe. Combine that with their ultra-supple Amber Harness leather and you get a super-versatile, ultra-durable boot that you can truly wear anywhere.
We hope you're as excited to check out our first-ever collection of Red Wing Heritage footwear as we are to have it in our store. As we round the corner on our one-year anniversary, to be able to offer such a storied, steadfast American brand that's still proudly made-in-USA after more than 100 years really feels like a victory for us. Come try a pair on soon and we think you'll fall in love the way we have with Red Wing Heritage.
